Getting married is one of the biggest events of a lifetime. As it is presumed it will only be done the once, even in this love cynical era, all the treasure in a Cornish trove is generally used to fund a wedding. From flowers, to churches or castles, food and marquees, music, champagne and of course the kitting out of the bride and groom in fabulous frocks. Getting carried away with the day can lead to some dodgy decisions that will be captured on camera for years to come, and sometimes only a limited budget can keep tight rein on potential fashion disasters. If it so happens that your budget allows for something other than an off the peg Debenhams special, a trip through celeb land wedding couture could inspire your choice or be a wake-up call of what not to wear!

Pamela Anderson and Kid Rock
Not known for following a traditional path through life, it's probably not unreasonable to expect the likes of Pam and K to have an untraditional white wedding. Much to the disappointment of Pammy fans, it was Kid Rock who was topless for this event. However, Pam wasn't exactly looking demure as she sported a white bikini and a sailor hat. A bikini is one thing, but white, we're no fools! As for the boy Kid, he was sporting a pair of pikey jeans and a hat that looks like it was found in a dumpster. This bikini and bare chest combo is bound to be a bit of a shock for aunt Mavis, and a look to be avoided unless you happen to be a rock star or clinically insane.

Jordan and Peter Andre
Dressed in tulle and crystal, Katie Price and Peter Andre put Barbie and Ken to shame at their 2005 wedding. Despite being deemed the chavviest wedding do in history with accessories to match, Jordan's meringuetastic pink frock managed to bag ninth place in a list of most stylish wedding dresses; beating the likes of classics sported by the likes of Jackie O. Peter's spangly suit in white, also designed by Isabell Kristensen fitted the theme perfectly, but I wouldn't hold much hope for it staying in one piece after a trip to the dry cleaners. To follow this theme, the rest of the wedding is going to have the same sugar coated fairytale clout, otherwise the spouse and yourself will look like the bride and groom fallen from the cake.

Britney Spears and Jason Alexander and Angelina Joley and Billy Bob Thornton
A Las Vegas wedding doesn't necessarily mean that you have to don a rhinestone encrusted cat suit and an Elvis wig, or choose from another highly dubious themed chapel. Celebrity weddings in Vegas have been known to be rather low key, and often last minute. It's a little worrying knowing that there is a place where you can go out on a date, have a few bevies and wake up married. Among celebrity advocates of the downbeat Vegas way are both Britney Spears and Angelina Joley who married their beaus in a trusty pair of denim jeans and swapped the traditional veil for a good ole American baseball cap. A good option for a super tight budget.

Victoria Adams and David Beckham
These guys sported a more traditional choice of wedding outfit. Victoria did choose a bodice top to her dress to match her trademark style, but ultimately the champagne coloured gown by designer Vera Wang was a traditional bridal gown. David's suit, shirt, waistcoat and cravat were all white and the guests were requested to wear black and white to add to the formal feel. In fact, the notoriety of the wedding being an over the top affair is based mostly on the fact that the pair decided to sit on thrones during their wedding ceremony. Take a leaf from this wedding album for nuptials that won't look like a novelty party in ten years time.
