Vaginal intercourse can be a really fun thing to engage yourself in, but just as long as you are safe when you go about doing it. From condom use to choosing the right lubricants, there are several things that you need to take into consideration before doing the deed with a lucky guy.

For example, if you have unprotected vaginal intercourse, you could be putting your life in danger. Some of the risks associated with unprotected vaginal intercourse include contracting HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. Although having AIDS is not quite the death sentence that it used to be, there is still no cure. Additionally, the drug cocktail that you would be required to go on to stay alive and relatively healthy costs at least a thousand dollars a month. Even if you have good health insurance, some of the drugs are not covered and you will be forced to pay out of your pocket expenses for your risky vaginal intercourse encounter.

Besides HIV and AIDS, there are other diseases that can come out of unprotected vaginal intercourse. One of which is Herpes. Herpes has no cure and treatments to suppress outbreaks do not always work all of the time. Even if you religiously take your herpes medication, you can still suffer from painful and embarrassing outbreaks once in a while. Plus, like HIV and AIDS, each time that you go to have vaginal intercourse with another person, you are required to tell him or her about your disease. Again, that is an awful lot of heartache and headache for one vaginal intercourse encounter.

If you are on the lucky end of the sexually transmitted disease spectrum, having vaginal intercourse will only result in infections such as Chlamydia, syphilis or gonorrhea. Although all of these can be treated with drugs like penicillin, they are absolutely no fun. Catching public lice, commonly known as crabs, is yet another one of the risks associated with vaginal intercourse.

On top of all of this, unprotected vaginal intercourse can result in an unplanned and unwanted pregnancy. The best way to avoid all of these sexual pitfalls is to remain celibate. If that is not a viable option, just make sure that you use a condom and proper lubricant each time you go to have sexual intercourse. Even having unprotected vaginal intercourse one time can ruin your life, so it is best not to risk it.
